Local 21 regrets to announce the passing of retired Fire District Chief Frank Langer. Chief Langer started with the Saint Paul Fire Department on October 14, 1975 and retired on December 31, 2006 after 31 years. Chief Langer retired from the 1st District on the A Shift. Frank passed away at the age of 76.

Local 21 regrets to announce the passing of retired Fire Equipment Operator Gerald “Jerry” Hauwiller. FEO Hauwiller started with the Saint Paul Fire Department on November 6, 1980 and retired on December 15, 2000 after 20 years.

June 14th - The afternoon was busy for both Local 2086 and 1309 members, battling multiple fires including a garage fire and a commercial fire back-to-back. The garage fire was located near W. Geddes Place and W. Glasgow Place in Jefferson County.

June 11, 2021 - 5:13 a.m. SMFR's 9-1-1 Dispatch Center received a call for a fire that was in the backyard of a residence near Lincoln Ave and Lone Tree Parkway. When District Chief 1 arrived on scene, he confirmed that it was a working structure fire viewing fire both on the primary home and extending into a secondary home.

At 10:59 a.m. on Saturday May 29, 2021, Local members responded to several reports of a house fire in the 6600 block of South Waco Way in Arapahoe County. Members observed a plume of smoke in the air while responding and upon arrival they found a shed fire extending into the garage and adjacent home.

Local 21 regrets to announce the passing of retired Fire Captain Rudolph G. “Rudy” Thell. Captain Rudy Thell started with the Saint Paul Fire Department on January 1, 1954 and retired in 1991. Rudy became a Paramedic in the mid 1970s and was assigned as Fire Captain of Engine 24 on the C Shift for a large part of his career.
